emperor- prometheus "the discipline of fire & demise" cd review

into the archives we dig out a black metal classic. emperors "prometheus- the discipline of fire & demise" cd, one of the most controversial bands to erupt out of the norwegian black metal scene. this offering shows the refinement of the band without the compromise many feel necessary to succumb too. "the eruption" starts off the disc with the force of satans anger, & the music only builds from here, "the prophet" is a headbanging classic. ihsahns & samoths guitar work, & the drumming by trym are the key elements here, ihsahns vocals are well produced and every growl is as clear as the baphomet itself. "in the wordless chamber" & "thorns on my grave" are 2 of the best tracks on this recording, balancing almost atmospheric feel and black metal brutality. if you need a cd that will disturb your neighbors, & confuse your friends, this might just be what you are looking for, giving this fine disc a 6 cross review. -l- -l- -l- -l- -l- -l-
